CHILDREN HAVE IT ALL AT JW MARRIOTT IHILANI RESORT & SPA'S
KEIKI BEACHCOMBER CLUB
KO OLINA, Hawaii –Children who like to be treated like their parents - with freedom, fun and all the amenities - will feel right at home at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina.
The Keiki Beachcomber Club, conducted by Kama'aina Kids, is an extensive, thoughtful and dynamic supervised program designed to please young guests between the ages of 5 to 12 years with everything from arts and crafts, to Hawaiian games and cultural activities, and a specially designed, ground-level facility with 1,800-square feet of indoor and outdoor activities. Children 4 years of age are admitted at the discretion of the program coordinator.
"Children play a role in choosing a destination for their family vacation," explained Janette Goodman, resident manager at the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa. "Surveys show that kids make plans for their vacation around pools and activities."
The ratio of one counselor to eight children assures personalized attention and quality care. The location of the hotel – on the ocean, on one of four lagoons – offers opportunity for ocean exploration around reefs and tidal pools.
And because of the location in Hawaii, the sharing of games, crafts, foods and other Hawaiian experiences are the hallmark of the Keiki Beachcomber Club program. For instance, with chicken wire, vinegar, food coloring and baking soda, children have a chance to make their own paper maché volcano, complete with eruption!
"Toys, games and crafts help children learn about Hawaii's unique culture while they're having fun," Goodman said.
At the club, participants embark on seafari adventures; hunt crabs and fish; decorate cookies and create unique Hawaiian treats; feed the sharks; learn to string fragrant lei and dance the hula; compete in Beach Olympics; take part in a Beach scavenger hunt; learn about Hawaiian legends; and fly kites, among others. The club also features ping pong and board games.
Licensed by the State of Hawaii, the Keiki Beachcomber program also provides nutritional meals and snacks from outstanding menus created specially for the children.
Activities begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 3:00 p.m. Half-day program options are from 9 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Children should bring a swimsuit and apply sunscreen before arrival.
For children under the age of 4, childcare arrangements may be made with the concierge.
For more information and reservations, please call the concierge at (808) 679-0079 by 9 p.m. on the day prior to children's participation. Advance reservations are recommended.
